A whopping 70% of kids will drop out of their sports programs by age 13. Here's a great Washington Post article by Julianna Miner positing why. And the video above from the Aspen Institute Project Play is just fantastic. But we'd like your thoughts, too.
Does your child play a sport in any kind of league? If so, how long have they been participating? What do they like or dislike about it? Are there certain parts that are great and others that aren't? And what are your own feelings?
Though at Let Grow we believe in free play -- play organized by kids just doing what interests them -- we are not against organized sports as part of the childhood mix. We'd just like to hear your thoughts and ideas about what's working and what could be better -- and how.
Thanks for your input!
