The comment below came in response to the post about the Black Mirror episode, "Arkangel."
In the show, directed by Jodie Foster, a mom has a chip implanted in her daughter that lets her see everything through her daughter's eyes -- literally -- as well as track her and hear what's going on around her. So, wrote one of you:
Do the people developing these apps think "Would I want some one else
watching MY every move? How would I feel if any other adult monitored
every food I ate and then made sure I did my daily workout?" My god,
that awful feelings that instills in me just thinking about it. I
can't even imagine it actually happening to me. And then to think
people actually do this to their kids. Yikes! Do they really think
that a child that is monitored and controlled like that will grow up
and know how to make their own decisions?
That's a great question to start asking as app developers keep coming up with new and more granular ways of spying on our kids. - L.
