So, I live in Utah, home of the first Free-Range Kids law. We live a very short distance from the elementary school in a fairly quiet neighborhood. There is one street to cross, at a crosswalk that goes directly to the playground of the school, and it is staffed by a crossing guard. There are plenty of other kids walking past our house on the way to school.
We said, yes, Kindergartener can certainly walk to school on her own. After all, we’ve been walking over to the playground all summer to play.
Well, she can get to the school… the girl has no clue how to find her classroom!
