I have an eight year old boy who attends boy scouts at school in the evenings–it ends around 7:00pm. We live three blocks from the school in a safe neighborhood. During the day, he is allowed to roam about pretty freely, but letting him walk home in the dark causes me to hesitate. Does anyone have any thoughts on this?
I feel with proper planning/safety rules it would be a good lesson! Ideas- call before leaving scouts (knowing time taking to get home), carrying a whistle and flashlight, code word, emergency cell phone, and practicing the safe and only route to be taken. Have faith in your little and remember the three Ts….teach problem solving, think ahead and take time. You go momma!
