We are thrilled to be featured on Morning Edition today! So hello, if that's what brought you here! Glad you have found Let Grow, where our goal is to make it normal, easy and legal to give kids back some independence. We believe that the freedom to explore, play, screw up, and figure some things out is the key to resilience. In other words:
Always helping kids isn't always helping them.
If you'd like to think about giving your kids some more freedom, please join Let Grow. (It's free!) Once you do, you will be able to find nearby Let Grow families by ZIP Code. (Also free. Heck, we're a non-profit. Everything is free!)
And why not get your school to encourage kids' independence with the initiatives discussed on NPR?
Here's how to do the Let Grow Project (teachers tell kids to go home and do ONE THING on their own), and the Let Grow Play Club (schools stay open for before- or after-school free play). If your school wants to talk about any of this, just drop us a line: Info@LetGrow.org .
Your city or town can encourage childhood independence, too. Have it become a Let Grow Community, declaring itself firmly in favor of having kids out and about -- and not criminalizing parents who let them roam. A town with kids riding their bikes and playing at the park is a town where people love to live!
Finally, if you want to make a donation, we won't stop you!
Let Grow is dedicated to "future-proofing our kids and our country" by fighting the push to overprotect. We are glad you're here! -- Lenore
